Rugby World Cup 2007 - France
As the Rugby World Cup 2007 is approaching fast, it is the best time
to plan and prepare. You will see a changed England from the team that
won the title so excitingly in the last seconds of the 2003 Final. New
Zealand, which starts as hot favourites before the start of the World
cup, will again try to challenge their reputation as the under-performers
in the tournament. Australia, which reached the final in 2003, will want
to lay claim to the title this year. Portugal the debutant will try to
spring its own surprises. While Wales, South Africa and a resurgent Ireland
will all be making their mark once the tournament gets under way.
The Rugby World Cup 2007 is being held in France from September 7 to
October 20.
From its inaugural tournament in 1987 hosted jointly by Australia and
New Zealand the Rugby World Cup has grown to be one of the most spectacular
sporting events in the world. This year’s World Cup promises to
be the bigger event than before. A record number of people are expected
to follow the 44-day long tournament between the world's top 20 rugby
playing nations.
The Rugby World Cup is the most important competition in international
Rugby and is organised by International Rugby Board (IRB), the sport's
governing body.
The tournament takes place every four years. The previous tournament
was held in 2003 in Australia and England won the title. 26/03/2007
