Bush protesters clash with police in Mexico:
Several hundred of protesters have rioted outside the US embassy in Mexico
City, in the latest demonstration against President Bush's tour of the
Latin American country.
Hundreds of demonstrators across Mexico are making it known that they
don't want President Bush there.
In Mexico City, Hundreds of demonstrators burned American flags and threw
stones at police guarding the building. Tear gas was used to disperse
the demonstrators who were waving banners with anti-Bush slogans. Several
people were injured, including a number of police officers.
The demonstrators attacked riot police at the U-S Embassy with sticks,
metal bars, concrete blocks and blow torches. Officers responded with
tear gas, pepper spray and baton charges. Several protesters have been
arrested or injured.
The violence took place close on the heels of Mr Bush pledging to reform
controversial immigration laws, during his talks with Mexican President
Felipe Calderon.
There have been protests at each stage of Mr Bush's trip, and verbal
attacks on him by Venezuela's Hugo Chavez, who is on his regional tour
of Latin America to upstage the U.S. President.
The US president has visited Brazil, Uruguay, Colombia and Guatemala.
Mexico is the final stop on his seven-day tour of Latin America. 14/03/2007
