Chavez accuses the US of Plotting to Assassinate Him:

Known for his anti Bush rants, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez accused U.S. administration of being bent on secret plots to assassinate or overthrow those leaders in Latin America who does not toe its line.

Chavez is on a visit to South American country Bolivia as part of his regional tour of Latin America to upstage the U.S. President George W. Bush.
Calling for a joint front to defuse such plots, the Venezuelan president, donning a traditional Andean poncho and a wreath of coca leaves, also accused the White House of attempts to fuel disunity and divide among the neighbouring countries in Latin America.

Chavez, who was visiting a military base in the Bolivian capital La Paz, repeated accusations that" the U.S. embassies are continuing to launch plans for assassinations and coups in our countries. I accuse the U.S. government of being behind these plans."

Meanwhile the arch-nemesis of Bush warned that if any thing happens to him or to his Bolivian ally, President Evo Morales, the U.S. administration will be solely responsible for that.

On Monday, the Venezuelan leader plans to travel to the Caribbean nations of Haiti and Jamaica. 12/03/2007
