NYC inferno claims eight young lives
Eight children and an adult died while six other people were seriously
hurt in a New York fire that devastated a building in the New York City
borough of the Bronx.
It was not known whether any of the surviving victims were children, according
to fire department spokesman Seth Andrews.
Unconscious children were thrown out of windows to people waiting below,
large plumes of smoke had filled the area after in what is said to be
one of the city's worst fires in recent times.
The fire was in a three-storey building in the city’s Bronx borough
and was reported shortly after 11pm yesterday local time. It took two
hours for the Firefighters to control the blaze.
