Obama and Clinton in campaign clash
The rival US presidential campaigns of Barack Obama and Hillary
Rodham Clinton traded charges against each other over Hollywood
donor David Geffen, who once supported former President Bill
Clinton but now backed his wife’s top rival.
The row was sparked after Hollywood mogul David Geffen hosted
a fundraiser for Mrs Clinton's rival and called her overly ambitious
in an interview.
The Clinton camp demanded that Obama condemn comments made
by the DreamWorks movie studio founder, who told New York Times
columnist Maureen Dowd in yesterday’s editions that while
“everybody in politics lies,” the former president
and his wife “do it with such ease, it’s troubling.”
The Clinton camp also called on Obama to give back Geffen’s
£1,150 contribution.
However, Obama's camp has refused calls to denounce the remarks.
Clinton's campaign has questioned Obama's promise to stay away
from "slash and burn" politics as a result of this
latest row.
